Boston, Why?

Most Red Sox fans woke up and asked themselves that exact question. When I heard the news last night at 9:30, I asked myself that question, but it’s done and there is nothing we can do. The only thing we can do is look towards the future of this organization and the possibility that Mookie might comeback…?

The Sox got Alex Verdugo from LA and Brusdar Graterol from the Minnesota Twins. I do not know too much about Graterol, but what I do know is he is a hard thrower which is something the Red Sox lack. He is only 21 and was the number 83 prospect in the pipeline. Verdugo on the other hand, I am so excited for! He is no Mookie. No one can replace Mookie, but it is a good start. He is 23 and has so much potential. He is under contract until 2024 and is only making the MLB minimum, which is exactly what the Sox need. My only worry is his back injury but if Chaim thinks everything is okay, I’ll believe him!

I think it is very possible Mookie comes back next year. Rumor has it, the Sox traded him because he wanted to test out free agency and that still is the case. It is very possible that he does not re-sign with the Dodgers. With the Red Sox also getting rid of Price’s contract, it opens up that possibility. It is very similar to what Chapman did in 2016. The Yankees traded him to the Cubs, he won a World Series, then signed a 5 year contract with the Yankees. I think it’s very possible to see Mookie come back on like a 7-10 year contract! We all know how much he loves Boston.
