Outlook for the 100th NFL Season

Ok, I know what you’re going to say, really boring first post. But hear me out. There’s just something about anniversary years that set them apart from other seasons. The 50th Superbowl saw Payton Manning win his second ring and go out on top. The 100th NHL season saw the Pittsburgh Penguins take the second of back to back cups for the first time since the Red Wings in 97-98. This season won’t be any different. The NFL has had it’s share of jaw-dropping season madness. If Thursday night was any indication of what’s to come, then I might be right. Yes, I know, the game was a complete flop. But that Bears defense is legit. And hell even the Packers defense looked like an actual unit compared to the Swiss cheese it was a year prior. Most people like shootouts, and I totally get it. Two high powered offenses going toe to toe is definitely great for fans and TV ratings. But what I saw on Thursday was raw product. Last year’s Superbowl had a similar result, and it was one of the most nerve-wracking things to watch. One play could have changed the entire outcome of the game, and the life of each team was being held in the hands of the defense. Overall, this season will be pretty special. I think it’ll be something many don’t expect. Hope everyone is buckled in.
